About

With a strength-based, relational-focused approach that is systemic in nature, Kelsey Lundquist, MA, LMFT, brings a unique perspective to her work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Kente Circle. Since 2016, Kelsey has been dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of mental health and relationships.

Kelsey's therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that our relationships, connections, and past experiences significantly shape our lives. She meets clients where they are, supporting them in identifying the intersectionalities of their identities and exploring how they are impacted by and engage with various systems of oppression. This foundational work allows Kelsey to provide culturally responsive therapy services to both BIPOC and white-identifying clients, honoring each family's cultural values in the healing process.

With a diverse range of experience, Kelsey offers in-home, outpatient, and group therapy services. Her areas of interest span a wide spectrum, including anxiety and depression, cultural and racial identity, relationship issues, trauma, grief and loss, family systems, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and perinatal/postpartum mental health. Kelsey is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions, explore gender, sexual, and relational identities, and develop healthy sexuality.

Kelsey's journey at Kente Circle began in 2012 as a clinical trainee, and she joined the team officially in 2013 after receiving her master's degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of St. Thomas. Her commitment to the field extends beyond individual practice; Kelsey is also a Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Clinical Supervisor, providing valuable guidance to clinical trainees and practitioners working toward licensure in marriage and family therapy.

In her therapeutic work, Kelsey considers the impact of multiple systems – from the intrapersonal relationship one has with oneself to broader societal structures – on our lives and mental health. She feels privileged to walk alongside clients in their journey through therapy, focusing on highlighting and utilizing clients' and families' strengths. Kelsey's approach is not just about addressing challenges but also about empowering clients to recognize and harness their inherent resilience and capabilities.
