Kris Teets
MPC, LPC, SEP • Licensed Professional Counselor
About
Transforming lives through the power of somatic healing and trauma resolution, Kris Teets, MPC, LPC, SEP, brings a wealth of experience and specialized training to her therapeutic practice. As a licensed professional counselor, Kris has dedicated her career to helping clients achieve meaningful change and unlock their extraordinary capacity for healing.
Kris's journey in the mental health field began with a strong foundation in psychology, earning her B.S. from Grand Canyon University in 1994. While balancing family life and running a personal training fitness business, she pursued her passion for counseling, obtaining her Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University in 2014. This unique blend of physical and mental health expertise informs her holistic approach to therapy.
Driven by a deep commitment to her practice, Kris has continually expanded her professional knowledge and skills. She completed an intensive three-year program at the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, becoming a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). This groundbreaking approach, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, works to restore vitality at the core level where trauma takes root – the nervous system.
Kris employs a host of evidence-based modalities to help her clients achieve their aims. Her toolkit includes specialized training in Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is an extensively researched method proven to help people restore balance and wholeness to their lives, particularly effective for addressing trauma-related issues.
Her professional experience includes several years working alongside some of the nation's top trauma and addiction recovery experts at The Meadows, a world-renowned treatment facility. This invaluable experience has further honed her skills in addressing complex trauma and addiction issues. In 2022, Kris launched Transformations Counseling, a private practice in Gilbert, Arizona, to bring her experience and training to clients in the southwest seeking meaningful change.
Kris's approach is particularly beneficial for those dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, attachment trauma, chronic illness, depression, eating disorders, grief, pain, PTSD, and other stress-related issues. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and views each client interaction as an opportunity to witness the extraordinary human capacity for healing.
At Transformations Counseling, Kris creates a warm, supportive environment where clients can explore their inner world, challenge their critical inner voice, and work through emotional pain from their earliest relationships. Her goal is to help clients make sense of their lives, understand their past to liberate their present, and empower their future.
Kris Teets stands ready to guide her clients on a transformative journey towards healing and self-discovery. Her diverse background, extensive training, and compassionate approach make her uniquely qualified to help individuals navigate life's challenges and unlock their full potential for growth and healing.
