About

At the intersection of sex therapy and relationship counseling stands Dr. Lee Kinsey, a specialist who combines these crafts into a unique blend for couples in trouble. With a sharp wit, a generous dose of humor, and an ability to intensely focus on core issues, Dr. Kinsey helps people navigate the vast complexity of their relationships and sexual lives to enhance joy, meaning, connection, and, of course, pleasure.

Dr. Kinsey is a certified sex therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), one of the oldest, largest, and most rigorous bodies that promotes the practice of sex therapy. He is also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and a traditional systems theory of relationship counseling called structural family therapy. This diverse training allows him to see problems within relationship dynamics rather than within any particular individual.

With over 11 years of experience in couples counseling, Dr. Kinsey believes strongly in the effectiveness of therapy. His work has not only changed how he operates in his personal life but has also shown him that couples can come back from the worst imaginable hurts to find healing, restoration, and new, better connections. Dr. Kinsey's approach is rooted in the philosophy that couples change through healing experiences of connection. In his therapy room, which he likens to a dance floor or a sandpit, he helps couples try out new steps and interact in powerful, different ways without fear of shame or ridicule.

Dr. Kinsey's expertise extends beyond traditional relationship issues. He works with a diverse clientele, including individuals and couples from various cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and relationship structures. His practice is open and affirming to LGBTQIA+ individuals, polyamorous relationships, and those in the Kink/BDSM community. He has experience working with clients from countries around the world, demonstrating his ability to provide culturally sensitive therapy.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kinsey has served as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University, working with graduate students studying to become counselors and sex therapists. His research has involved collecting sexual stories of adults to create a more holistic model of sexual development, further informing his practical approach to therapy.

Whether you're struggling with intimacy issues, recovering from infidelity, exploring your sexual identity, or simply looking to deepen your connection, Dr. Kinsey offers a safe, professional, and caring space to explore these topics. His goal is to help you or your relationship reach the next level of sex, love, and intimacy, creating an experience of deep connection that allows you to hear, feel, and respond to yourself, your partner, and your family in new, meaningful ways.
