Marie Alvarez

Marie Alvarez, M.S., LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at the Miami Counseling & Resource Center. Her person-centered approach emphasizes authenticity, empathic understanding, and a non-judgmental attitude, creating a safe, nurturing environment for clients to explore strengths and process feelings.

She is certified in EMDR basic training through the EMDR Institute in 2019 and is currently pursuing full EMDR certification. Marie uses EMDR and trauma-focused interventions to address anxiety, depression, phobias, attachment trauma, body image disturbance, and grief/loss, working with adults of all ages and specializing in childhood and attachment/developmental trauma.

In addition to trauma work, she offers talk therapy for life transitions, interpersonal challenges, and personal self-growth, and has expanded her practice to include support for new mothers informed by becoming a first-time mom in 2023. Marie prioritizes a warm, empowering therapeutic alliance that helps clients challenge unhealthy beliefs, gain perspective, and build coping skills.
