Paul Velen

Paul Velen, MS, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over three decades of clinical experience. He earned his Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton in 1982 and has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1985.

He specializes in EMDR therapy and holds full certification in EMDR, including the Feeling State Addiction protocol and Integrated EMDR for treating migraine headaches; he also has a certificate in gerontology. His work includes couples counseling and individual treatment for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges.

Velen worked at The Center in Long Beach in the 1980s and now sees clients at an accessible office at 4073 Brockton Avenue in Riverside, CA, with wheelchair access. He uses a warm, collaborative approach to help partners improve communication and to help individuals develop practical strategies for symptom management and stronger relationships.
