About

Grief, loss, and life's unexpected challenges often leave individuals feeling adrift and uncertain. Sherri Bair, MS, LAC, brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to her role as a Licensed Associate Counselor, offering a beacon of hope to those navigating these difficult waters.

With a strong foundation in counseling and human development, Sherri earned her BS degree from South Dakota State University, followed by two Master of Science degrees—one in Counseling and Human Development and another in Child and Family Studies. Her academic prowess is evidenced by her double publication in research during her studies, showcasing her commitment to advancing the field of mental health.

Sherri's professional journey is marked by diverse and impactful experiences. She has counseled teen birth mothers and their families for LDS Family Services, advocated for victims of rape and domestic violence at The Compass Center in South Dakota, and shared her knowledge as an instructor at her alma mater, SDSU. Her expertise extends to various areas of mental health, as demonstrated through her numerous presentations on marriage, parenting, depression, anxiety, and adoption.

However, it is in the realm of grief and loss counseling where Sherri truly shines. Her professional training in grief therapy is profoundly enhanced by her personal experience of losing her husband of 40 years to cancer. This combination of professional knowledge and lived experience makes Sherri exceptionally qualified to support cancer survivors and family members who have lost loved ones. As she poignantly states, it is "one of the hardest things a person can experience in life."

Sherri's therapeutic approach is centered around the powerful concept of "choice." She excels in guiding her clients to uncover options that may not be immediately apparent, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with renewed perspective and resilience. This ability to illuminate new pathways is particularly valuable for those grappling with grief, trauma, or crisis situations.

In addition to her specialization in grief and loss, Sherri offers trauma and crisis therapy for adult individuals. Her comprehensive background and varied life experiences—having lived in many parts of the country—contribute to her ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds and life situations.

Beyond her professional life, Sherri finds joy in her role as a mother to 5 adult children and grandmother to 19 grandchildren. She cherishes the time spent with her family, reflecting the importance she places on personal connections. In her leisure time, Sherri enjoys reading, sewing, and taking walks, activities that likely contribute to her well-rounded approach to life and therapy.

Sherri Bair brings a wealth of knowledge, a depth of personal understanding, and a compassionate spirit to her practice. Whether you're struggling with grief, facing a personal crisis, or dealing with trauma, Sherri offers a safe, understanding space to explore your feelings and develop the tools needed to move forward.
