For Sherry Douden, founder of Insights Counseling Group, these experiences are not just professional expertise but a deeply personal journey that informs her compassionate approach to therapy.

From an early age, Sherry was intimately acquainted with grief. By her early 20s, she had been present for the passing of four beloved family members. These profound experiences caused her to pause and reevaluate not just how she was living, but how she was loving. The loss of her husband of 9 years became a catalyst for transformation, propelling her from a career in retail to pursuing a degree in Counseling Psychology. This personal odyssey led to the founding of "New Mourning" in 2004, which has since evolved into Insights Counseling Group.

Sherry's philosophy is rooted in the understanding that humans are inherently resilient, yet vulnerable to moments of fragility where our beliefs, feelings, and value systems are called into question. She recognizes that these challenging times often lead us to explore our purpose, identity, desires, and faith. It's in these vulnerable moments that Sherry believes the support of others becomes crucial – to contain and carry some of the weight we cannot bear alone.

At Insights Counseling Group, Sherry and her associates offer more than just clinical expertise in dealing with depression that often accompanies life transitions. They bring life experiences that allow them to hold space for tough emotions and trauma while exploring core beliefs. Sherry emphasizes that circumstances and trauma can impede our understanding and acceptance of self, which she sees as the first step to healing and loving again after pain and survival.
