Stephanie Waters
LMSW • Licensed Master Social Worker
About
Blending the ancient wisdom of yoga with modern therapeutic techniques, Stephanie Waters, LMSW, offers a unique holistic approach to mental health and wellness. As a Licensed Masters Social Worker with a specialization in behavioral health and addiction counseling, Stephanie creates a safe and inviting therapeutic environment where clients can explore their challenges and work towards healing.
Stephanie's journey into the field of mental health began at Misericordia University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies. She then pursued her Master's degree in Social Work from Temple University, further honing her skills in behavioral health and addiction counseling. But Stephanie's education didn't stop there - she is also a registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200h), bringing a unique blend of mindfulness-based stress reduction, yoga, and meditation to her practice.
With experience spanning across diverse settings including the VA, Community Counseling, and Prison environments, Stephanie has developed a versatile skill set in working with seniors, adults, and adolescents. Her expertise covers a wide range of mental health concerns, including addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment and behavioral disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and trauma. She is adept at working with individuals, couples, and groups, having served in roles such as an outpatient behavioral specialist, counselor, and case manager.
Stephanie's approach to therapy is as diverse as her background. She employs an eclectic mix of evidence-based techniques to ensure the best treatment for each client. Her specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Positive Psychology. She also incorporates innovative methods such as Environmental Therapy and Aroma Therapy, truly embracing a holistic approach to mental wellness.
For Stephanie, the journey of helping others is deeply personal. She discovered the transformative power of yoga and meditation in her own life, using these practices to navigate the stresses of her work as a drug treatment specialist in a federal prison. This personal experience informs her professional practice, allowing her to empathize deeply with clients struggling with stress and self-care.
Clients working with Stephanie can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental space where they can explore their challenges and work towards their goals. In the initial visit, Stephanie focuses on understanding the client's background experiences, family and social dynamics, and current work situation. This comprehensive approach allows her to tailor her treatment to each individual's unique needs and circumstances.
Stephanie's office provides a private entrance, and she offers flexible scheduling with weekend and late evening hours to accommodate diverse client needs. Whether you're dealing with stress and anxiety, mood disorders, anger management, or PTSD, or simply seeking personal growth, Stephanie Waters is committed to partnering with you on your journey towards wellness and self-discovery.
