About
In the vibrant world of art therapy, Clarissa Greguska stands out as a beacon of creativity and compassion. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist, Clarissa brings a unique blend of traditional counseling techniques and innovative artistic approaches to her practice. Her journey into the realm of mental health began with a calling that she recognized as early as high school, setting her on a path of dedicated study and diverse clinical experiences.
Clarissa's therapeutic approach is as colorful and multifaceted as the art she incorporates into her sessions. She doesn't believe in a one-size-fits-all methodology, instead opting for a personalized approach that utilizes compassion, humor, art, play, and curiosity to truly understand each client's unique needs and goals. This client-centered philosophy allows her to work collaboratively with individuals, building upon their personal strengths to foster growth and self-awareness.
With advanced training in art therapy, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss/grief, emotional regulation, coping skills, anger management, mindfulness, somatic pain, and LGBTQ+ issues, Clarissa is well-equipped to address a wide range of mental health concerns. Her expertise extends to working with adolescents, adults, couples, children, and individuals in crisis, making her a versatile therapist capable of supporting clients through various life stages and challenges.
Clarissa's educational background is as impressive as it is focused. She holds undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Art Therapy from Edgewood College, where she was honored with the Rath Distinguished Scholarship in her senior year. Her graduate journey led her to the University of Illinois at Edwardsville, where she pursued dual Master's degrees in Clinical Counseling and Art Therapy, supported by the prestigious Competitive Graduate Award.
Beyond her clinical work, Clarissa demonstrates a commitment to advancing her field. For the past three years, she has volunteered as the Secretary and Governmental Affairs Committee Chair of the Southern California Art Therapy Chapter, advocating for the promotion of art therapy through community engagement and policy initiatives. This experience, coupled with her previous role as the Governmental Affairs Committee chair for the Missouri Art Therapy Chapter, underscores her dedication to the broader landscape of mental health advocacy and professional development.
In the therapeutic space, Clarissa sees herself as more than just a counselor; she becomes an advocate, cheerleader, and coach for her clients. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and is committed to creating a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their emotional world. Whether through traditional talk therapy or creative art interventions, Clarissa's goal is to help clients gain deeper insights, develop more effective coping skills, and ultimately achieve their vision of their best selves.
