With a passion for art and play therapy, Kapka creates a safe, nurturing environment where clients can explore their inner worlds and find paths to healing and personal growth.
Kapka's therapeutic approach is intuitive, client-centered, and compassionate, focusing on empowering individuals to actively participate in their own healing process. She skillfully employs a variety of methods, including art and play therapy, sand-tray work, music, dance, creative writing, and storytelling. These creative interventions allow clients of all ages to express themselves in non-triggering ways, making them particularly effective for addressing trauma, abuse, divorce adjustment, anxiety, disruptive behaviors, grief, and loss.
Drawing from her extensive training and experience, Kapka integrates mindfulness, multicultural sensitivity, somatic practices, and solution-focused approaches into her work. She is adept at employing various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the Gottman Method for couples counseling. This integrative approach allows her to tailor her interventions to each client's unique needs and circumstances.
Kapka's expertise spans a wide range of areas, including individual therapy, family counseling, couples therapy, and group sessions. She works with clients across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and seniors. Her specialties include addressing mood disorders, relationship struggles, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, and issues related to self-esteem and personal growth. Kapka is also uniquely qualified to work with immigrant and refugee populations, drawing from her own experiences and ability to communicate fluently in several languages.
With a Master's in Social Work from the University of New England and extensive post-graduate training, Kapka continually expands her knowledge and skills to better serve her clients. Her commitment to ongoing education is evident in her numerous certifications, including specialized training in treating trauma, working with personality disorders, and providing telehealth services. This dedication ensures that her clients receive the most up-to-date and effective care possible.
