About
With a cognitive-behavioral perspective at the core of her therapeutic approach, Katie Frazee, MS, LCPC, NCC, MAC, brings almost a decade of experience to her role as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Her journey in mental health began at Phoenix Health Center, where she worked as a substance use counselor while pursuing her Master's Degree, laying the foundation for her expertise in medication-assisted treatment.
Katie's professional path led her to the Frederick County Health Department, where she honed her skills for three years and achieved the prestigious National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential. This certification demonstrates her commitment to meeting national standards in counseling practice. In 2015, Katie's career took an entrepreneurial turn as she developed the Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient program at Wells House at Gale Recovery from the ground up, serving as a Clinical Supervisor. During this time, she further specialized, becoming a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor.
Katie's expertise spans a wide range of areas, including substance use, chronic pain, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma. She offers individual, group, family, and couples therapy, tailoring her approach to each client's unique needs. Her therapeutic toolkit includes cognitive-behavioral techniques, experiential exercises, goal setting, and homework assignments, allowing for a customized and eclectic approach to treatment.
As the founder of Guiding Paths Counseling, Katie's primary goal is to provide the most effective therapeutic experience possible. She creates a safe and supportive environment that empowers clients to develop the skills necessary for making better life choices. Katie's approach is grounded in the belief that successful therapy outcomes are closely tied to the quality of the therapeutic relationship between clinician and client.
Katie's commitment to the field extends beyond her clinical work. As an approved supervisor by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, she mentors both Licensed Graduate Professional Counselors (LGPCs) and Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LGADCs), helping to shape the next generation of mental health professionals. Her dedication to ongoing education and professional development underscores her commitment to providing the highest quality care to her clients.
