With a diverse background that spans two continents, Rachel brings a rich tapestry of experiences to her practice, offering a blend of compassion and expertise to guide individuals, couples, and families through life's challenges.
Rachel's therapeutic approach is as multifaceted as her clientele. She specializes in helping those grappling with life changes, grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, general anxiety, and depression. Her extensive experience in family dynamics and parenting makes her particularly adept at nurturing healthier family relationships. Rachel's practice is inclusive, offering individual counseling for children ages 4-12 and adults 18 and older, as well as couples and family counseling.
With a strong educational foundation, including a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a Master of Science in Child Development, and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology, Rachel is well-equipped to address a wide range of mental health concerns. Her toolkit is further enhanced by specialized training in EMDR, TF-CBT, strength-based therapy, Gen-PMTO, and Collaborative Problem Solving. As a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and educationalist, she brings a holistic approach to mental wellness that integrates mind and body.
Rachel's treatment orientation is rooted in the belief that everyone has the capacity to find inner peace, though the journey may look different for each individual. She employs a collaborative approach, drawing from various therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, EFT, MI, art therapy, play therapy, family systems, attachment therapy, and mindfulness. This integrative style allows her to tailor her approach to each client's unique needs and goals.
Growing up between Oregon and The Netherlands, Rachel developed a global perspective that informs her multicultural approach to therapy. Now settled in Eugene with her husband and six pets, she channels her passion for helping others into her practice, believing in the transformative power of nature, yoga, and therapy. Rachel's philosophy emphasizes the innate power within each individual to achieve peace and harmony, provided they are ready for change and given a safe, comfortable space to explore. With Rachel, clients embark on a journey of self-discovery, supported by her unwavering belief in their capacity for growth and healing.
