About

With a compassionate approach rooted in person-centered and humanistic therapy, Terence Venable, M.Ed., creates a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their emotions and experiences. As a resident in counseling under the supervision of Matthew Browning, LPC, Terence specializes in working with a diverse clientele, including children, teens, college students, adults, athletes, multicultural clients, and individuals with disabilities.

Terence's expertise spans a wide range of mental health challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity issues, life transitions, relationship problems, self-esteem concerns, stress management, substance abuse, and trauma. His therapeutic approach combines person-centered, humanistic, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, tailored to meet each client's unique needs. Terence also employs trauma-informed practices, acknowledging individual, intergenerational, and community trauma in his work.

With a strong educational background, Terence graduated from Penn State University in 2024 with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. His earlier studies at West Virginia University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports and exercise psychology with a minor in communication studies, inform his work with athletes and provide a unique perspective on the intersection of mental health and physical performance.

Terence's professional experience includes internships with Penn State's university athletics department, a free clinic for college students, and WorkLink, a program designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This diverse background enables him to bring a wealth of practical knowledge to his therapeutic practice, enhancing his ability to connect with clients from various walks of life.

Committed to accessibility and client convenience, Terence offers both face-to-face sessions in comfortable office settings and telehealth options. He currently divides his time between the Arlington/Alexandria office (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday) and the Falls Church office (Friday), ensuring flexibility for his clients. Whether in person or via teletherapy, Terence strives to foster a trusting, collaborative relationship with each client, empowering them to become the experts of their own experiences and guiding them toward positive change and personal growth.
