Douglas Counts

Douglas Counts, LICSW, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over three decades of experience in the mental health field. He specializes in substance abuse treatment, trauma work, and anxiety disorders and offers individual and couples therapy.

He earned his Masters of Clinical Social Work from Boston College School of Social Work and has served as case management supervisor for the Department of Mental Health and as a clinician for the Department of Corrections' mental health team. He was Director of Substance Abuse at The Counseling Center in Middleboro, MA, worked with the Wareham District Court and referrals from local courts, parole, and probation, and later served as Center Director for the Worcester office of Arbour Counseling Services.

Since 2001 he has maintained a private practice and joined Newton Square Counseling Collaborative in 2016. His work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Therapy, and he incorporates mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation techniques to support recovery and coping.
