About

Creativity and play form the cornerstone of Jane Kim's therapeutic approach, offering a unique gateway for children, teens, and parents to explore their inner worlds and overcome challenges. As a pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MA/MFT-I), Jane brings a wealth of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, particularly in supporting children with autism and related disorders.

Jane's journey into the world of mental health began with a passion for children's well-being. For 15 years, she served as a lead therapist and Coordinator of Services for children with autism, honing her skills in understanding and addressing the unique needs of neuroatypical children. This experience laid a strong foundation for her current practice, where she employs a variety of therapeutic modalities including play therapy, sand tray therapy, and art therapy.

With a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, concentrating in Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University, Jane combines her academic knowledge with practical experience to create a holistic approach to therapy. Her educational background, which also includes a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a minor in Art and a concentration in Elementary Education, informs her multifaceted understanding of child development and family dynamics.

Jane's therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that every person has a valuable story to tell. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves freely, whether through talk, play, or art. As a family systems therapist, she helps individuals identify their role within their family unit, fostering stronger relationships and improved communication. Her strengths-based approach, coupled with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, aids clients in breaking negative thinking patterns and developing healthier coping mechanisms.

Drawing from her diverse professional background, which spans roles as a mental health therapist, visual arts teacher, and preschool teacher across the East/West Coast and Hawaii, Jane brings a unique perspective to her practice. She understands the importance of cultural sensitivity and respects all races, cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, and spiritual affiliations. This inclusive approach allows her to connect with a wide range of clients, helping them navigate challenges such as family conflicts, depression, child-parent conflicts, and teen struggles.
