With a passion for evidence-based therapy and a keen interest in the complex nature of shoulder and hip joints, Jennifer Thoennissen, PTA, brings a unique blend of expertise to her role at Total Therapy Florida. A Florida native who grew up in Venice, Jennifer found her niche in outpatient therapy after graduating from State College of Florida in Bradenton with her PTA degree in 2012.

Jennifer's approach to physical therapy is characterized by her enthusiasm for tracking patient progress. She takes a mental picture of each patient at their first treatment session, using it as a benchmark to celebrate how far they've come by their last day. This method not only motivates her patients but also fuels her own passion for the profession.

Currently, Jennifer is expanding her knowledge base by studying with the Postural Restoration Institute, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and improving patient care. Her dedication to evidence-based therapy ensures that her patients receive the most up-to-date and effective treatments available.

While Jennifer excels in treating various injuries, impairments, and diagnoses, her particular interest lies in the intricate workings of the shoulder and hip joints. This specialization allows her to offer targeted, expert care for patients dealing with issues in these areas.

Outside of her professional life, Jennifer maintains an active lifestyle that complements her work in physical therapy. She enjoys paddle boarding, fishing, and playing sports, with a particular fondness for basketball and ultimate frisbee. This personal investment in physical activity enhances her understanding of body mechanics and movement, which she applies to her patient care.
