About
From the bustling lakes of Winter Haven to the intricate workings of the human body, Dr. Cassie Cook, DPT, MTC, AIB-VRC, brings a unique blend of local roots and cutting-edge expertise to her physical therapy practice. As a 7th generation Floridian, Dr. Cook's connection to her community runs as deep as her passion for helping patients regain their mobility and quality of life.
Dr. Cook's journey in physical therapy began with her graduation from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences, where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree cum laude in 2014. Her dedication to excellence was evident early on, as she was one of only three candidates selected for a prestigious post-doctoral orthopedic physical therapy residency at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida. This experience provided her with invaluable expertise across multiple settings, including acute care, inpatient rehab, direct access primary care, specialized amputee clinic, and outpatient rehab.
Since completing her residency, Dr. Cook has focused her practice on outpatient orthopedic care in the Winter Haven, Lakeland, Lakeland Highlands, and Davenport areas. Her diverse patient base ranges from adolescent athletes to higher-risk retirees, addressing a wide array of conditions including sports injuries, pre and post-operative impairments, work injuries, car accident-related injuries, and balance and vestibular rehabilitation. Dr. Cook's commitment to manual physical therapy is exemplified by her Manual Therapy Certification, earned in 2015 after rigorous written, practical, and oral examinations.
Recognizing a critical need in Central Florida, Dr. Cook expanded her expertise to include vestibular therapy. In 2017, she received her Vestibular Therapy Certification from the American Institute of Balance, enabling her to help hundreds of Polk County residents overcome debilitating vertigo and balance issues. This specialization has made her a go-to expert for complex vestibular cases in the region.
Dr. Cook's approach to patient care is deeply personal and highly individualized. She treats each patient like family, providing appropriately challenging care tailored to their specific needs. Her sessions are characterized by a combination of hands-on techniques, targeted exercises, and comprehensive education. Patients consistently praise her warmth, professionalism, and ability to explain complex concepts in understandable terms.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Cook is an advocate for patient education and community health. She has lectured on common lumbar and cervical impairments, emphasizing self-care strategies for veterans. This commitment to empowering patients with knowledge extends to her current practice, where she ensures each client understands the purpose behind their exercises and treatment plan.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Cook embodies the active Florida lifestyle she promotes, enjoying paddle boarding and waterskiing on the local chain of lakes. Her love for travel, both domestic and international, informs her global perspective on health and wellness. While she doesn't have pets of her own, her approachable nature extends to the four-legged friends of her patients, always ready with a friendly pat if their humans approve.
Dr. Cassie Cook's practice at Bespoke Physical Therapy is a testament to her belief in providing high-quality, personalized care. Whether you're an athlete looking to return to peak performance, a professional managing a work-related injury, or someone seeking relief from chronic pain or vestibular issues, Dr. Cook's comprehensive approach and extensive expertise make her an invaluable asset to the Central Florida community.
