Kelcey R. Nichols
LCSW, LCASA • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About
In the heart of trauma-informed care, Kelcey R. Nichols, LCSW, LCASA, stands as a beacon of hope and healing. With over nine years of dedicated experience, Kelcey has honed her skills in helping individuals navigate life's most challenging moments. Her journey in mental health began with an undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University, where she laid the foundation for her compassionate approach to therapy.
Kelcey's diverse background includes hands-on experience in direct care roles, spanning inpatient hospitalization and residential facilities. This early exposure to various mental health settings fueled her passion for making a difference in people's lives. Pursuing her calling, Kelcey earned her Master of Social Work (MSW), complementing her education with valuable internships in dialysis and outpatient therapy settings. Her commitment to crisis intervention led her to spend two years in crisis response services before transitioning to outpatient therapy.
A pivotal moment in Kelcey's career came in 2020 when she completed her EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training. This experience not only expanded her therapeutic toolkit but also opened her eyes to the critical need for affordable trauma treatment. Inspired by this realization, Kelcey founded Willow Haven Counseling, a trauma-informed center dedicated to serving individuals from all economic backgrounds. Her innovative approach to pricing ensures that every full-rate payment contributes to providing life-changing services to those who might otherwise be unable to afford them.
At Willow Haven Counseling, Kelcey offers a range of services, including individual therapy, group therapy, and clinical supervision for social workers seeking licensure. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and EMDR. Kelcey's practice is not just about treating symptoms; it's about creating a safe haven where clients can feel heard, seen, and validated throughout their healing journey.
Kelcey's personal background adds a unique dimension to her practice. As a biracial woman and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, she brings a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion to her work. She is committed to supporting movements that increase power for BIPOC individuals and abolish oppressive systems. This personal commitment translates into her professional life, where she strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all her clients. Kelcey's approach to therapy is not just professional—it's deeply personal, rooted in authenticity and a genuine belief in the power of being true to oneself.
