From the core of her being, Kylie K. Montoya believes in the power of connecting with the self through authenticity and genuineness. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in New Mexico, Kylie's practice centers around eating disorder treatment and general mental health care, serving a diverse range of populations and age groups.
With over 22 years of residence in New Mexico, Kylie brings a rich tapestry of experiences to her counseling practice. Her early life, marked by moves across several states and even a stint in Holland where she learned Dutch, instilled in her a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. This multicultural background uniquely informs her approach to therapy, allowing her to connect with clients from various walks of life.
Kylie's educational journey led her to the University of New Mexico, where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. Her professional experience spans work with foster children, adolescents facing emotional disturbances, and individuals grappling with severe trauma. This diverse background has honed her skills in treating eating disorders, body dysmorphia, women's issues, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma/grief, and identity issues.
In her practice, Kylie employs an eclectic approach, rooted in humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives. She believes in meeting each client where they are, adapting her methods to suit individual needs and personalities. Kylie places great emphasis on building a truly therapeutic and connected relationship, valuing trust, vulnerability, compassion, and genuineness as cornerstones of effective therapy.
Kylie is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) and is currently pursuing training in somatic experiencing, aiming to obtain her Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification. She also incorporates emotion-focused work and skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in her practice.
Beyond her professional life, Kylie is a nature enthusiast who finds solace in outdoor adventures, from hiking to watching sunrises and moongazing. An avid runner and lover of music, crime podcasts, poetry, and art, she brings a zest for life and learning to her practice. Kylie's personal motto of finding meaning in life resonates through her work, as she guides clients on their journey towards healing, self-discovery, and holistic wellness.
