Paola Gonzalez Fusilier

From the sacred journey of play therapy to the complexities of cultural identity, Paola Gonzalez Fusilier, LPC, RPT, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her role as a trauma therapist. As a first-generation Mexican American and child of immigrant parents, Paola offers a unique perspective that deeply informs her practice at Pasadena Counseling Center.

With years of experience serving clients from all walks of life, Paola specializes in working with children as young as 2 years old, adults of any age, and families facing a wide range of challenges. Her expertise spans intimate partner and family violence, sexual violence and abuse, childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, family dynamics issues, depression, anxiety, and more. Paola's background in various nonprofit and private practice settings has equipped her to address complex issues such as foster care and adoption, educational challenges, racial trauma, immigration and acculturation issues, grief and loss, ADHD, and other psychiatric disorders.

As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), Paola firmly believes in the therapeutic power of play, viewing it as the language through which children process life's struggles. This approach, combined with her trauma-informed care, creates a nurturing environment for healing. Her collaborative work extends beyond the therapy room, as she frequently works with support systems, psychiatrists, hospitals, teachers, and school officials to provide comprehensive care.
