With over nine years dedicated to implementing trauma-informed care throughout STARRY services and the greater community, Dr. Hernandez has become a beacon of hope for those seeking healing and growth.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (#73875) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (#202586), Dr. Hernandez's approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the complex needs of individuals and families. Her credentials as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Educator® further underscore her commitment to evidence-based practices that foster healing relationships.

Dr. Hernandez's journey in mental health began at Texas State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Forensic Psychology, followed by a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to her field led her to pursue a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University, equipping her with the tools to not only practice but also shape the future of counseling.

Her career at STARRY has been marked by continuous growth and impact. Starting as a counselor, Dr. Hernandez quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Training Coordinator and later as Director of Program Training for the Counseling, Fatherhood, and Foster Care Programs. In her current role as Executive Director of Programs and Services, she leverages her extensive experience to drive innovation and strategy across all STARRY programs.

One of Dr. Hernandez's most significant achievements has been training over 2,500 community members in the TBRI® Principles, significantly expanding the reach of trauma-informed care. This work reflects her passion for not only helping individuals but also creating systemic change that can benefit entire communities.

When not revolutionizing mental health care, Dr. Hernandez finds joy in her personal life, residing in San Marcos with her husband, daughter, and four dogs. Her love for family, travel, and craft projects offers a glimpse into the well-rounded perspective she brings to her professional life, understanding the importance of balance and creativity in fostering wellbeing.

Dr. Hernandez's unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and personal warmth makes her an invaluable asset to STARRY and the mental health community at large.
