His journey in mental health began with a Master of Arts Degree in School Psychology from Western Kentucky University in 1986, leading to a five-year tenure as a School Psychologist where he honed his skills in psycho-educational evaluations, counseling, and consultative services for children and school personnel.
Dr. Rhoad's commitment to expanding his expertise led him to pursue a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree from Regent University, which he attained in 1999. This academic achievement was preceded by valuable practical experience, including work as a Licensed Professional Counselor from 1991 and as a therapist at the Pines Residential Treatment Center in Portsmouth, Virginia from 1992 to 1994. During his time at the Pines, Dr. Rhoad provided crucial individual and group psychotherapy to children and adolescents, further developing his specialization in youth mental health.
In 2001, Dr. Rhoad founded Chesapeake Psychological Associates, marking a significant milestone in his career. Here, he continues to offer a comprehensive range of psychological services.
