With a unique perspective shaped by her international experiences, Wendy R. Jacobsen, M.A., LMFT, brings a rich, multicultural approach to her therapy practice. Having spent over three years living in Jordan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey, Wendy has cultivated the ability to see the world through diverse lenses, an invaluable asset in her trauma-informed and humanistic approach to therapy.
Wendy's educational journey began at Biola University, where she earned a B.A. in Humanities with a Philosophy emphasis. She then pursued her passion for mental health, obtaining a Master's in Counseling from Palo Alto University. This robust academic foundation, combined with her real-world experiences, has equipped Wendy with a comprehensive toolkit to address a wide range of client needs.
Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both Alabama and California, Wendy's professional experience spans various settings and age groups. She spent three years providing therapy to children from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in a public elementary school in Palo Alto. This experience honed her skills in working with young clients and their families. Additionally, Wendy has extensive experience working with couples and in community mental health, serving people of all ages.
Wendy's therapeutic approach is both evidence-based and tailored to each client's unique needs. She utilizes a range of modalities, including trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), somatic mindfulness, play therapy, and attachment-based therapy. As a Level 1 trained PACT therapist, Wendy brings specialized expertise to her work with couples.
Wendy's practice welcomes adolescents (12 and up), adults, couples, and families. Her multicultural background and diverse therapeutic skill set allow her to create a safe, understanding space for clients from all walks of life. Whether addressing trauma, relationship issues, or personal growth, Wendy's approach is grounded in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deep commitment to her clients' well-being.
