From the baseball diamond to the CrossFit box, Dr. Daniel Musselwhite brings a passion for sports and orthopedics to his physical therapy practice. As a former Division 1 scholarship swimmer, Dr. Musselwhite intimately understands the physical demands placed on athletes and the importance of proper rehabilitation. This firsthand experience, combined with his extensive training, allows him to provide comprehensive care for patients ranging from weekend warriors to professional athletes.
Dr. Musselwhite's journey into physical therapy began after a high school injury sent him to rehab, igniting a desire to help others recover and excel in their athletic pursuits. He earned his degree in Athletic Training from the University of Evansville, where he combined his studies with impressive athletic achievements. Building on this foundation, he pursued his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis, known for its top-ranked physical therapy program.
With a commitment to continuous learning, Dr. Musselwhite has expanded his expertise beyond traditional orthopedics. He holds an Impact Trained Physical Therapist Certification (ITPT), specializing in concussion management for patients from adolescence to late adulthood. Additionally, he has earned post-doctoral certification in Pelvic Health through the American Physical Therapy Association, addressing an often underserved area of patient care. His diverse skill set also includes certification in Dry Needling, further enhancing his ability to provide targeted pain relief and improved function.
Dr. Musselwhite's professional interests span a wide range, including student athletics, concussions, orthopedics, pelvic floor dysfunction, and recreational athletics. He actively contributes to the field as a member of the Clinical Development Committee for Team Movement for Life, guiding clinical excellence for over 100 physical therapists and assistants nationwide. His involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association, particularly in the Special Interest Group for Pelvic Health, demonstrates his commitment to advancing the profession.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Musselwhite maintains an active lifestyle that mirrors his professional interests. He enjoys participating in CrossFit, hiking, and indulging in quality coffee. This balance of personal pursuits and professional dedication allows him to connect with patients on a deeper level, understanding their goals and motivations for recovery. Whether working with a high school athlete recovering from a sports injury or an adult managing pelvic floor issues, Dr. Musselwhite brings a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to help patients achieve optimal function and return to the activities they love.
