From elite athletes to weekend warriors, Dr. Lukas Tvedt brings over 13 years of clinical expertise to every patient he treats. As a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Clinic Director, Dr. Tvedt has established himself as a leader in orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy.
Dr. Tvedt's journey in physical therapy began with a strong academic foundation. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the top-rated program in the United States at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His commitment to excellence didn't stop there; Dr. Tvedt completed an American Physical Therapy Association accredited Orthopedic Clinical Residency and earned his board certification in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tvedt has demonstrated a passion for advancing the field of physical therapy. He has conducted and published research on Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, exploring the effectiveness of innovative treatments on balance, gait, and protective sensation. His expertise extends beyond clinical practice; Dr. Tvedt regularly instructs other clinicians on manual therapy techniques for the spine, sacroiliac joint, and lower extremities. He has even developed an internationally utilized anatomy and physiology curriculum for a renowned Pilates organization.
In his role as Clinic Director for Movement For Life's Ft. Lowell and Tanque Verde locations, Dr. Tvedt leads a team dedicated to providing exceptional care. His patient population spans all ages and activity levels, from young children to nonagenarians, and includes professional athletes from Major League Baseball, Mixed Martial Arts, and various other sports. This diverse experience allows him to tailor treatment approaches to each individual's needs and goals.
Dr. Tvedt's commitment to education and mentorship is evident in his various roles. He serves as a clinical mentor for an APTA accredited orthopedic residency program, holds an adjunct faculty position with Northern Arizona University's Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training, and sits on the Clinical Advisory Board for NAU's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. These positions allow him to shape the future of physical therapy education and practice.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Tvedt is deeply involved in his community. He volunteers his time to raise money for local charities and serves as a charter member and Medical Services Director for the Arizona Bowl Committee. His dedication to service was recognized in 2016 when he received the Tucson Hispanic Chamber's Top 40 Under 40 distinction, and again in 2020 when he was named the Arizona Bowl Volunteer of the Year.
