Allan Schwartz, L.C.S.W., Ph.D., is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience in private practice. He is licensed in Colorado (License No. 127) and New York (License No. R039535). Schwartz earned his M.S.W. from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 1988 and his Ph.D. in 1976 from the Ferkauf Graduate School, both at Yeshiva University in New York City. In 1992, he became a certified psychoanalyst through the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis.

Before establishing his full-time private practice, Schwartz gained clinical experience at Bronx Lebanon Hospital’s outpatient psychiatry department, FEGS, the continuing day treatment program for chronically mentally ill patients, and the geriatric center’s adult outpatient psychiatry department at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.

In addition to his clinical work, Schwartz contributes to MentalHealth.com Answers (formerly MentalHelp.net). His content, continues to provide compassionate, clear, and clinically grounded responses to mental health questions, helping people better understand their challenges and discover informed paths toward care.
